Beijing Beef

Time: 30 min Servings: 4

Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs beef steak of choice

  • 3 tbsp Chinese cooking wine

  • 1.5 tbsp of corn starch

  • 1 tsp baking soda

  • 1 egg white

Sauce

  • 3 tbsp of oyster sauce

  • 2 tbsp soy sauce

  • 2 tbsp sugar

  • 2.5 tbsp ketchup

  • 1.5 tbsp rice vinegar

Toppings

  • 1/2 onion, roughly chopped

  • 4 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 red bell pepper, cut into 1"

  • 1 tbsp sliced ginger

  • 2 cups rice

Instructions

  1. Marinate beef with corn starch, baking soda, egg white and Chinese cooking wine.

  2. Mix oyster sauce, soy sauce, ketchup, rice vinegar and sugar in a separate bowl

  3. Rinse rice and begin cooking

  4. In a pan, add in oil and on medium heat fry the beef for 2-3 min or until browned. Set aside

  5. Sauté together garlic, onion, ginger, and red pepper in the same pan

  6. Add in sauce and mix for 30 seconds

  7. Add back the beef and sauté together for 1-2 min

  8. Serve on a bed of rice
